Betty L.
Schuh
Apr 18, 1942 — Jun 16, 2026
Warsaw, Missouri
Betty L. Schuh, age 84, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away early Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. She was born on April 18, 1942, in Inglewood, California, the daughter of Elza R. and Agnes L. Buchhorn Brown.
Betty grew up in California and Kansas and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies Education. She worked for several years at Balboa Park in San Diego, California. On January 30, 1965, she married Albert E. Lynch, and through this marriage, she became a loving stepmother to his two sons, Mike and Rob. Albert preceded her in death. She later married Albert R. Schuh on May 9, 1987, and gained additional stepchildren, including Dannie Weltch.
Betty devoted much of her life to caring for her family and also worked for several years as a Teacher’s Assistant. She lived in several places throughout her life, including Kansas, California, and La Vernia, Texas, and especially loved visiting Warsaw, Missouri, at the Lake of the Ozarks.
She had a deep love of history and enjoyed reading about historical events and traveling to experience them firsthand. Her favorite historical figures were Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson. Betty traveled to nearly every state in the United States and made three trips to Europe.
She believed her purpose in life was to fill whatever role others needed and took great pride in caring for those around her. She found joy in gardening and nurturing life in all its forms. At one time, she even cared for a pet raven, reflecting her unique and curious spirit. She brought joy to those around her, even during challenging times, and was known for making holidays special with her seasonal decorations and traditions. Betty was a free spirit with a deep-rooted faith in God. She lived a life that was, in many ways, ordinary, yet extraordinary in the love, care, and presence she gave to others.
Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert E. Lynch and Albert R. Schuh; her stepsons, Mike and Jon; her stepson, Dannie; and other beloved family members. She is survived by her stepson, Rob; her stepdaughter, Susan; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her close friends, Clovie and George Stewart; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Warsaw Funeral and Cremation. Burial will follow at Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw, in a peaceful setting near the lake, as she requested. Her beloved cat, Boots, will be laid to rest with her.
