Michael R. Johnson, age 65, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026. He was born in Jackson County, Missouri, on April 7, 1961, the son of Leon and Emelie Johnson.

He was raised mostly in the Kansas City area. He loved to be around people. He loved family get togethers. He was proud of some of the fish tanks that he has had through the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ken Johnson.

Michael is survived by his two sons, Louis Johnson, and his wife Kayla, of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, and Travis Johnson, of Independence, Missouri, his brothers, Keith Johnson, of Parkville, Missouri, Bret Johnson, of Kansas City, Missouri, his sisters, Kathy Johnson, of Kansas City, and Jody Johnson and Jenee Johnson, both of Cassville, Missouri. He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great- grandchild, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service for Michael will be held at Warsaw Funeral and Cremation on August 14, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. A visitation will start one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 P.M. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Association in his memory. A full obituary will be posted soon.
